Can I strongy suggest that this application gets altered to not accept 0ms ping times as legit. It's far too easy to exploit the data (also, delete the data I uploaded under this username).
Before I uploaded my data, godaddy.com pings in QLD on Internode were averge of 215ms. With one set of bogus uploaded data, it changed that to 151ms (easy, by running a bogus hosts file). Also it got me thinking that if a site was down, it could also seriously skew the results. Maybe once it hits a certain point, only accept overseas pings that are >100ms (theoretically can't do more than that), and Australian sites only accept >2ms (if anyone's below that, they'll be within the ISP for sure). |

Hi ricky60,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I will update the server side file to not accept <2ms pings for local websites and <100ms for overseas websites.
Currently pings over 800ms will only appear in the users profile and won't be updated to the average ping times for that ISP.
I'll also take your suggestion at OCAU and update the application to ping the website by IP and not by their website address. _________________
